Nice game.

I like the design of the close gap jumps, this adds to the intensity of the run without beeing unfair.
The usage of the mouse is a nice touch with multitasking elements. Even though it is uncommon, it worked very well with your game.

Thanks for crediting my music. Nice to hear the songs in another setting and with different game play mechanics.

Great work, keep it up :)

Jhomas responds:

Thank you so much for the review & allowing your music to be used in games. Your tracks really fit the mood I was going for!

(ps I realized I hadn't credited you in the sidebar of the game, this is fixed now!)

What's the difference to the 2D Game Kit provided by Unity Technologies? Where is you own touch, content and work? You also left the credits from the development team. Making slight differences and "selling" it as your game is an insult to the Unity Development team... :(

ManiacDevs responds:

that's why I left the credits and I placed a link to in in the description obviously not trying to hide it. I can do more once I see, it is actually good and people like it. just testing.

Awesome minimalistic game. It felt like playing a lowrez version of "Another World". You've managed to create a great amosphere. Everything was fitting, the effects, the music and the story progression. I wished to see more particle effects (wind, water, fog) to improve it, but I can't add more to it.

thelucre responds:

I'm proud that this game reminded you of Another World. Also, particle effects were on the list but cut in the interest of time. The next build will be much more 'animated' in the environments. :)

Nice game with many features and nostaligia. Great work with all elements. I only wished sometimes that the controls were better resonsive. The wall climbing is very hard to execute. Otherwise a thumb up from me :)

Lambtaco responds:

Sounds like you've got a bit of control lag. The number one thing I can suggest to fix it is changing the backgrounds to "still" or "none" on the pause menu. If that doesn't help, you can also change the quality to low (which uglies up the game a ton) and close any programs that may be using a lot of CPU. And the game runs better on my site, I think because the page isn't as busy as NG, but that requires starting a new file :(

Thanks for reviewing.

Sorry but there is a problem to stay motivated to finish the game when you can't see the holes. It makes the game needlessly hard to beat. I also couldn't find a fruit or something that I could use to charge my power. Other than that I wanted to see the further progression but gave up by dying to much. Maybe you could add some kind of hints for the gaps like you did with the lamp above for the blocks.

SirBiest responds:

Hi Satyre

If you check the description you will see that there is indeed a bug that turns the background black on certain browsers. This of course makes the game needlessly hard (especially since I already programmed it to be challenging :P).

Me and some dudes on the Construct 2 forum are looking to fix this issue, but it is an illogical one and we cant find the cause. The game does work 100% fine on Internet Explorer. So if you still want to fully experience it, try it there :)

Good work so far. The game has a lot of potential. I see clear references to Zelda 1 & 2 which is not a bad thing. You should work on a bigger story and add sounds and music to it. You should also add some more enemies, cause I think that the zombies alone are not very challenging. Keep on your work, I'm looking forward to a sequel.

The best and innovativ part was the soldier at the gate, that runs away from the zombies when rising the gate. This kind of small challenge could make the game very fun to play, when implemented more often.

dereklarue responds:

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it. :) I'm working on adding some music in a future release. The sequel "Ryona Adventures" (currently in development) will have an actual story line, dungeons, open world exploration, quests, more enemy types, a leveling system, character customization and more. I'll have more info on its development at a later date.

Even the game is good, I was wondering why it was uploaded 2 times. under the same name? One by you and a week before by ForgeEntertainment? Just in case the game has been stolen or something like that, which would be inadequate.

EntertainmentForge responds:

Thanks satyre we had no idea about this. Our first stolen game! How nice! :D
Luckily stolen one seem to have better ratting lol :P

Nice game. Graphics are very nice.

I have some suggestions:

- Music would be nice.
- The gameplay could be faster. The balls can fall at a faster rate.
- A skip button for the start, when you are ready with the setting and want to start the wave
- New types of balls, like some fire ones which burn the wood.
- A level overview to play older level and a score system with medals and a highscore.
- A goal for the game. Since it's a priest, you could let a demon fire the bullets or something like that, maybe gather faith as a score alternative.

Keep up the good work!

ss1986 responds:

Thanks for the suggestions.

There is a problem with respawning at Scene 26 "L3Scene5".

Overall a nice idea of a realistic gameplay, where the player dies with one shot.

But I think your controls should be more smooth and music and sound should be added.

Also a suggestion. When a level starts, give the player some seconds to check, what is happinging in this level, cause I died too many times before I even saw the level design. Also an intro or tutorial part with the controls in the game could be an improvement.

I see a lot of nintendo reference ;) .Overall 3,5/5

Keep up the work!

kcazingy responds:

Thanks for the feedback I am looking into the respawning bug at L3scene 5, and I had sound added in a previous version but for some reason when it switched to a different lvl it crashed the game and I couldn't ever find a reason why so I scratched the sound completely.

Not bad, pretty nice game modes. I recommend to overwork the menu design a bit more. It is not clearly enough where to switch to the mainmenu and to other screens at the first time. Also a in-game help would raise your score. The next part I recommend is to polish the graphics up.

I see much potential in this game, it could easily get 6-7/10 Stars when you rework the graphics.
The music isn't annoying to me cause it fits to the game.

You can combine your existing achievment values to let the player get newgrounds achievements.

Just keep a bit working, the jam has not ended yet.

Summary
+ Gameplay
+ Different modes
+ Challenging

- Graphics could be more polished.
- UI design could be improved (Homebutton, Mutebutton as mentioned should be visible)
- In-game help would be good

Meeteos responds:

Thanks a lot for the feedback, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to rework the graphics and add those things in time.
